- Water Environment at time of swim: In Austria, the water was safe for drinking. Down-river, this is not so.
- Most difficult aspects of swim: How to stay awake with no breaks. Cold water. The mental problems associated with staying in this water for this long of period, non-stop.
- Range of water temperature: (16 to 19 C) (60.8 to 66.2 F)
- Martin’s Motivation behind the swim: To break the previous record. {The previous record was 481.5 km in 84 hrs and 37 minutes. } For Martin, it was a very big question, if it was actually possible to swim this long in this cold of water.

- Martin’s Health at end of swim: Overall good health after the swim, however Martin was affected from a psychological standpoint during the swim. Martin was more exhausted in the water than he was after the swim.
