2007 Amazon – (Atalaya, Peru to Belem, Brazil) –

     • Swam 66 days
     • Swam (5269 km) (3274 miles)

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. This was the worst sunburn of Martin’s life up to this point in time. Exhausted both physically and mentally. Severe problems with ears. Many rashes all over his entire body. Skin was terribly damaged. Major problems with ears and eyes. Diarrhea. Bacterial infections. Parasite infections. Dengue fever and schistosomiasis. Numerous piranha bites over his entire body.

2004 Yangtze – (Lijiang to Shanghai)
    • Swam 50 days

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. Exhausted, physically and mentally. Terrible parasite infections, bacterial infections, and viral infections. Liver was severely affected because of the high levels of toxic pollution in this river. Severe hypertension. High body temperature. Severe problem with ears, eyes, and skin. Many rashes all over the body, including underneath the hair. Swam (4003 km) (2487 miles)

2003 Parana – (Iguaçu Falls to Puerto Madero , Center of Buenos Aires)
    • Swam 23 days

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. Exhausted. Martin was touched by approximately 30-40 piranhas and slightly bitten numerous times. Swam (1970 km) (1224 miles)

2002 Mississippi – (Itasca, Minnesota to Head of Passes ,Louisiana – Nearest village, Venice)
    • Swam 68 days
    • Swam (3798 km) (2360 miles)

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. Exhausted, impossible to walk by himself after the swim. Severe problem with eyes, ears and Martin’s skin was in terrible condition.
Severe rashes all over the body. Bacterial infection. Martin was very sick after this swim. This was a terrible swim for Martin. He lost a lot of energy and power during this swim.

2001 Danube River – (Melk, Austria to Paks, Hungary)
    • Swam non-stop for 84 hrs and 10 min
    • Swam (504.5 km) (314 miles)

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Overall good health after the swim, however Martin was affected from a psychological standpoint during the swim. Martin was more exhausted in the water than he was after the swim.

2000 Danube – (Germany to Romania) plus three stages more
    • Swam 56 Days + 3 days more: Total 59 Days
    • Swam (3004 km) (1866.7 miles)

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. Exhausted. No infections.

1997 Africa – Europe (Tunisia, Africa to Pantelleria, Italy)
    • Swam non-stop 29 hours 37 minutes and 57 seconds

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. Exhausted. Severe damage to Martin’s eyes, lips, mouth and nose, as a result of the salt water. In addition, Martin endured the stinging from approximate 50 to 60 bites from Jellyfish. During a portion of the swim, Martin got stung approximately thirty times all at once from jellyfish. Swam: (80 km) (49.712 miles)

1997 English Channel – (U.K. to France)
    • Swam non-stop 16 hours and 26 minutes
    • Swam (35.112 km) (21.8 miles)

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Exhausted. Normal effects from such cold water.

1994 Italy – (Lignano to Ravenna)
    • Swam non-stop, 55 hours and 15 minutes
    • Swam (162.5 km) (100.97 miles)

Martin’s Health at end of swim: Terrible sunburn. Exhausted. Severe damage to Martin’s eyes, lips, mouth and nose, as a result of the salt water.
